Vacation

It's June 30th, 2015. I am happy, really happy. It's warm, warm enough that my sweat doesn't quite dry, all over my entire body, and I do not care. I text Lizz that I'm happy, but her response does not determine whether or not I actually am. I eat trader joes Caesar salad, then cook an Italian sausage over the fire. Leo sits on my lap, I drink beer almost as a joke. Ryan is in the kitchen right now cooking hamburger sliders. My boss emails me, says he wishes I could take two weeks off. This is my real life, nothing else is.

Never Alone

Something feels much different about this trip, the potential for longevity, not that it's sustainable in the sense that I COULD stay here, but rather that I would want to. I use different shampoo every other day, I swim, I fall asleep early on the couch, I eat calamari and drink bourbon around lunch time. Losing yourself takes only a moment, after years and years creating and curating, meticulously. Nobody calls me, I'm busy, never in bed, no computer. I am asleep more than I am sad, I eat ice cream cones more than I am sad, I smile more than I am sad. Perhaps I wasn't meant to be established, I am a wanderer, a dawdler, I roam where I please, speak quiet, laugh loudly. I forgot work, I forgot people, I forgot home.
