I Was Drenched

"I was drenched. Let’s see how I can sink in the open water. I’ve seen enough of the land and the sea birds and the buoys, let me sink. With a rope and a rock tied around my neck. A man must have the will to swim lest he drown and I have no will at all. But to drown in sight of land must be my greatest failure. “How could you fail? It was right there!” Yes, and you can say the same of life."
