but the nights are quite dark with no one else home
that bed, I said
I can manage during the day
you respond hasn't it always been that way
everything the same
I am who I was at first
just getting progressively worse
attempting all the while to achieve your best
and that is life, I guess
there is such an inexplicable balance
I am so endlessly grateful
I am equally disappointed
