We'll End Where We Begun

"you're a door-without-a-key, a field-without-a-fence,
you made a holy fool of me, and I've thanked you ever since
if she comes circling back we'll end where we'd begun,
like two pennies on the train track the train crushed into one"

when i got blood drawn, and wanted to go to a happy place
i pictured your name, i imagined your face
when i couldn't sleep, curled up in bed at night
when i wanted to be broken and sad
i thought of what you've stolen, and laugh at what we had

i swear you're not real, maybe never were
a lesson in a pretty disguise
god placed here to make me feel as though i am working through something
i want to really work through something
