Forgive Me For This Fear That Clings

  "I waited for your second coming
  pressed beneath the hips of men
  whose faces never morphed into yours.
  Could never cradle me like you.
  Searched for salvation in their
  sweat, salvia, and sweet lies,
  biding time until your return.
  You are finally here and broke
  in all of the places I need desperately  to be whole.

  My apologies for hanging my
  pitiful expectations on your back;
  for wanting returned what is irretrievable."
